Amarnath Caves:- Amarnath Cave is a Hindu shrine located in Jammu and Kashmir, India. The cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888 m (12,756 ft), about 141 km (88 mi) from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir and reached through Pahalgam town. The shrine forms an important part of Hinduism, and is considered to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. The cave is surrounded by snowy mountains. The cave itself is covered with snow most of the year except for a short period of time in summer when it is open for pilgrims. Hundreds of thousands of Hindu devotees make an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave across challenging mountainous terrain.
Katra Mata Vaishno Devi : Amidst the beautiful mountains and scenic beauty of Jammu, at foothills of Trikut Parvat, Katra, lies the temple of Mata Vaishno Devi. At an altitude of 5,300 feet and with mountains forming the lower Himalayas, it is one of the most sought after places in India. The Yatra takes through several temples namely, Bhumika Temple, Ban Ganga temple, Ardh Kuwari temple, Shri Ram Temple, and Bhairon Temple. The Mata Vaishno Devi Pindis are situated in a 95 meter long cave. After darshan, devotees return to Bhavan to collect their belongings and then back to Katra.
Srinagar : Enclosed by Himalayan Mountains on all sides, lies Srinagar in the Kashmir Valley which is prominently called Heaven of Earth. Upholding the title given to this place, Srinagar provides you the most gorgeous view of its lakes, gardens and houseboats. Justifiably dubbed as summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar never disappoints you culturally, religiously or as a traveller. While Hazratbal Mosque and Jama Masjid offers you impeccable architectural finesse, Shankaracharya Temple and Hari Parbat Fort delivers the cultural lushness of the region. If you are amazed at the beautiful trees and natural beauty of the valley, wait till you reach Dal Lake. The serene waters of Dal Lake and Shikara rides would ease you beyond imaginations. And the nerve-wracking car ride to Khilanmarg Snowpoint is spine-tingling. A visit to Srinagar is never complete without a tour of the royal Mughal Gardens. It is an assembly of several gardens constructed in Persian architectural styles. On the banks of Dal Lake, Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh and Chashma Shahi Bagh truly are treats to eyes. Enveloped by the mountains, the ecstasy of the garden-fresh places seems like a paradise.
Gulmarg : Just 2 hours of a car ride would take you to Gulmarg from Srinagar. Gulmarg, the 7th best skiing destination as recognized by CNN International, gives you view of magnificent Himalayan mountaintops. Being at the touching distance from Line of Control, Gulmarg is guarded by Indian army at all times. Slope of approximately 5 kilometers is ideal for skiing and it ends at the town of Tangmarg.
Pahalgam : A 2 ½ hour cab ride from Srinagar Airport would take you to Pahalgam. Rested in nature’s motherly lap, the trips to Kashmir valley, Dabian and even Baisaran, the so called mini-Switzerland would soothe you and make you want to spend as much time here as possible. Chandanwari is a glacier and marks the start point of Amarnath Yatra. Betaab Valley is also an attraction for movie buffs for many films still get shot here. The journey to Tulian Lake, Aru valley and experience of white water rafting (if you are adventurous enough) would stay in your memory for a lifetime.
