For those who are not able to go or get the Registration for visiting Kedarnath, the alternative programme for Day 7 would be as follows:

Char Dham is the most sacred of all Hindu pilgrimages. It should be visited in a particular order starting with Yamunothri, Gangothri, Kedarnath and then Badrinath at the end.  Rishikesh is an ancient pilgrimage site. Rishikesh is associated with Lord Rama and his brother Laxman. The famous Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Trayambageshwar Temple and the Ashrams around are to be missed. Yamunotri is the source of river Yamuna and the temple here is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. It was built by Jaipur Maharani Guleria. The source point of river Yamuna is Champasar Glacier and this cannot be visited at all times due to its inaccessibility.

One who travels to Gangothri should go via Uttrakashi. The famous Temple of Kasi Vishwanath which holds his “Trishul” in Uttrakashi cannot be left without being visited.

Gangothri  is located on the banks of river Bhagirati. The source of river Bhagirati or river Ganga is Goumukh Glacier.  The place from which the water flows resemble a cow’s face and hence the name “Goumukh”. Gangotri  is considered most sacred because of the Ganga, Daughter  of heaven who touches the earth  at this point. She is believed to have originated as a river to salvage the sins of King Bhagirath. It is also the place where Lord Shiva sat when river Bagirathi flowed through his matted locks. Actually River Bhagirati acquires the name Ganga when it reaches Gangotri.

Srinagar is an important tourist attraction for its natural beauty and several temples say Kamaleshwar Mahadev Temple and Kikileshwar Mahadev Temple.

Kedarnath is located near Chorabari Glacier. It is the most remote of the four Char Dham sites. The chief deity is Lord Shiva who is worshiped as Kedarnath, the 'Lord of Kedar Khand', the historical name of the region. The temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya (April end or first week of May) and closes on Bhai Duj (October end or 1st week of November) due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold weather during winter.

Gupta Kashi means “hidden kashi” and is one of the six kashis. The principal god here is Kasi Vishwanath who is considered ruling the whole world. The famous, ancient Arthanareswar temple is found here where Lord Shiva is symbolized as half man and half women. It is believed to be the site where Shiva expressed his love to Parvathi Devi prior to their wedding in Triyuginarayan Temple .

Badrinath is the most important of the four sites in India's Char Dham pilgrimage  It lies on the banks of the Alaknanda River. Badrinath Temple is a sacred pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites. The idol of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone was discovered by Adi Shankara.

Pipalkoti is a small and scenic town situated at 17kms after Chamoli between Haridwar and Badrinath. Pipalkoti is  a relaxation point for people traveling to Badrinath.

Haridwar is an ancient pilgrimage site where the river Ganges enters the plain areas of north India. Haridwar is famous for the Mansa Devi Temple, Har-Ki-Pauri and the great Aarthi which is performed on all days.
